This month, Japan has moved closer to South Korea on security and chips policies at a rare summit in Seoul.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also said Japan aims to lead international rule-making efforts for AI use, and G7 education ministers confirmed the need to curb risks from generative AI.
Finally, the Japanese government defended its national ID system despite glitches and Digital Minister Kono Taro said that the government was considering joining India's UPI payment system.
