This month, Japan's economic security law took effect amid regional tensions, and the defence ministers of Japan and Israel agreed to promote cooperation on defence equipment and technology.

Robot security guards have been deployed to patrol Tokyo metropolitan government building, and a new report suggested the number of reported phishing cases in Japan topped 100,000 for the first time in July.

Also, Sony has purchased mobile game developer Savage Game Studios to expand beyond consoles, and a Japanese scientist set a new national record for deep-sea exploration.
