This month, Japan and the EU have agreed to step up their 'Beyond 5G' cooperation, and Prime Minister Kishida Fumio said he will build stronger ties with the United States to secure additional semiconductors.
The countries are also in talks to put the first Japanese astronaut on the Moon, while East Japan Railway said it will start carrying out test runs of automated trains with passengers aboard on Tokyo's Yamanote loop line.
In other news, Fujitsu and Southern Tohoku General Hospital researchers used AI tech to detect pancreatic cancer from non-contrast CT scans and an international research team comprising more than 300 scientists from the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) captured the first image of a black hole at the center of the Milky Way.
